Many Windows users have reported recently that whenever they use Bing search and click one of the results, it opens in a new tab in the Microsoft Edge browser. This problem appears only when they use Bing search and not google search.
Some users also experienced this problem when using in Google Chrome app as well. After analyzing this, we have gotten information that this might be caused due to the changes in the Search Results settings in the Bing search profile.
If you are also facing this issue and want to stop opening the bing search results in a new tab instead of the same tab, follow the steps explained below on how to resolve it.
How to Stop Bing Search Results open in a new tab every time
Step 1: Open the web browser app on your system by pressing the Windows key and typing microsoft edge.
Step 2: Select the Microsoft Edge browser from the search results as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 3: In a new tab, type bing.com in the address bar and press the Enter key.
Step 4: Once the Bing homepage opens, click the hamburger icon on the right side of the bing page.
Step 5: Now click Settings to expand it and then select the More option as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 6: This opens the Search Settings page.
Step 7: Scroll the page down and uncheck the Open links from search results in a new tab or window and Open links from news results in a new tab or window checkboxes.
Step 8: When done, you need to click on the Save button at the bottom of the page as shown below.
Step 9: After the settings are saved, you can close the Microsoft Edge browser.
