Microphone icon Missing from Keyboard on iPhone [Fix]

Fix 1 – Enable the Dictation Mode

When the Dictation Mode is disabled, it might cause the Microphone icon to disappear since dictation mode allows users to insert texts spoken to the iPhone instead of typing. So try enabling the Dictation Mode on your iPhone.

Follow the steps to enable the Dictation Mode.

Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone.

Step 2: Choose the General option by tapping on it once.

Step 3: Then scroll down the General page and select the Keyboard option as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 4: At the bottom of the Keyboards page, under the Dictation section, tap on the Enable Dictation’s toggle button to turn it on as shown below.

NOTE – Confirm it on the popped-up window by tapping on Enable Dictation.

Step 5: This will enable the Dictation Mode on your iPhone.

Step 6: After it is enabled, check whether you are able to find the Microphone icon on the keyboard.

Fix 2 – Turn On Siri and Turn Off Allow Siri When Locked setting

Some iPhone users have resolved this issue by changing the Siri settings on their iPhones. They noticed that after enabling Siri, the Microphone icon appeared back on the virtual keyboard on their iPhone.

So try enabling Siri by following the steps below.

Step 1: First of all, you need to open the Settings page on your iPhone by tapping the Settings icon from the home screen.

Step 5: It might ask for a few sentences to say loudly on your iPhone to record your voice for Siri to recognize.

Step 6: Please complete this task and after that, it enables Siri on your iPhone.

Fix 3 – Remove Third party keyboard

Fix 6 – Factory Reset your iPhone

If none of the methods above worked for you, then this method probably might work out because it erases all the data and settings and reverts the iPhone back to its factory default values and settings.

Additional Fixes

Restart your iPhone

Many times, this actually works where restarting your iPhone can resolve many known and unknown issues in the iPhone. So we recommend trying to restart your iPhone and see if this works.

Step 1: To shut down your iPhone, go to the Settings page first on your iPhone.

Step 2: Then tap on the General option.

Step 3: Now select the Shut Down option at the bottom of the General page.

Restart the Application

If you find that this issue of the Microphone icon missing on the iPhone keyboard is only on certain apps, then it can be fixed by simply restarting the application. In order to restart the application, first you need to close the application which is running in the background after you swipe to reach the home screen.



Open the App Switcher by swiping exponentially from the bottom left side of the iPhone screen and search for the Application and swipe it up to close it. Once it gets closed, go to the home screen and open the application once again as usual.

Update your iPhone

If this problem appears everywhere on your iPhone and not with a particular application, you probably can try updating your iPhone iOS.

Some iPhone users have claimed that they were able to resolve this issue by simply updating that particular application or all the applications on their iPhones. So we suggest users update their applications on iPhones through App Store.
