Many iPhone users recently started getting an issue where the volume on their iPhones gets decreased automatically and this is causing an issue for them. Whenever they are watching any movies, or videos, listening to music, or even talking over the phone with others, it simply decreases the volume and they are unable to hear any voice or sound.

- Dirt accumulated in and around the volume buttons on the side.

Fix 1 – Turn Off the Attention Aware Features
Step 1: Go to the Settings page on your iPhone first.
Step 2: Then, tap on the Face ID & Passcode option once.
Step 3: Enter the passcode to open the Face ID & Passcode page.
Step 4: Scroll down the page and disable the Attention-Aware Features option by tapping on its toggle button as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 5: Once done, you will see that the issue will get resolved easily.
Fix 2 – Disable Change with Buttons
Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone by tapping the Settings icon from the home screen.
Step 2: On the Settings page, tap on the Sounds & Haptics option once.
Step 3: Under the Ringtone and alert volume section, disable the Change with Buttons option by tapping on its toggle button as shown below.
Fix 3 – Turn Off Reduce Loud Sounds option
Step 1: Open the Settings page and go to the Sounds & Haptics option.
Step 2: Tap on the Headphone Safety option once.
Step 3: Then, on the Headphone Safety page, turn off the Reduce Loud Sounds toggle button by tapping on it once.
Step 4: After that, you can see that the issue is no longer there on the iPhone.
Fix 4 – Disable Headphone Accommodations
Step 1: First of all, go to the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2: Then tap on the Accessibility option.
Step 3: Next, tap on the Audio/Visual option.
Step 4: On top of the Audio/Visual page, tap on the Headphone Accommodations option once.
Step 5: Then, disable the Headphone Accommodations option by tapping on its toggle button as shown below.
Fix 5 – Basic Troubleshooting Tips
Sometimes, basic troubleshooting ideas and tips can resolve these types of issues on any iPhone. Follow these tips explained below.
- First of all, remove the case/back cover of your iPhone and see if the problem is still persisting. If it gets resolved, the case was actually causing the issue by either being too tight or the volume button getting pressed continuously. So we suggest getting a new case which is not too tight and fits perfectly.
- Next, after removing the case/back cover and if the problem still occurs, you need to take a small brush and clean the volume buttons because there might be dirt and a few tiny particles stuck which may cause such problems.
Fix 6 – Restart the iPhone
Step 1: Open your iPhone’s Settings page.
Step 2: After that, tap on the General option.
Step 3: Scroll down the General page to the bottom and tap on Shut Down.
Step 4: Next, follow the onscreen instructions to shut down the iPhone.
Step 5: Once done, start the iPhone by pressing together the side volume button and the power button on another side for about 2-3 seconds or till you see the Apple logo on the screen.
Fix 7 – Update the iPhone

Step 1: Tap on the Settings icon to open the Settings page.
Step 2: Then tap the General icon to open it.
Step 3: Then go to the Software Update option by tapping on it.
Step 4: Once you reach the Software Update page, you will see the updates that are available on your iPhone.
Step 5: Please tap on it and follow any onscreen instructions to update them.
Step 6: Once done, it will automatically restart the iPhone and your issue will be resolved.
Fix 8 – Reset All Settings on your iPhone
Before proceeding, please note that performing Reset All Settings on your iPhone does not erase any of your personal data from the iPhone. Instead, only the customized settings that you have modified on your iPhone get reset.
Step 1: Go to the Settings page on your iPhone by tapping on the Settings icon.
Step 2: Then tap on the General option once.
Step 3: Tap on the Reset option as shown below.
Step 4: Now Select Reset All Settings option from the list by tapping on it once as shown.
Step 5: To proceed further, please enter your passcode when prompted on the screen.
Step 6: Please tap on Reset All Settings on the pop-up window to continue.
Step 7: This will start to reset all your iPhone settings without losing any personal data.
