iPhone automatically offloading unused apps – How to fix

Does your iPhone offloading unused apps automatically? iPhones can exert this kind of behavior when the device is facing acute shortage of free space. If you are also facing this issue, you can follow our guide to fix it. We have explained the reason for this unusual behavior and discussed all the possible remedies to counter it.

Why the iPhone is automatically offloading unused apps?

Offloading process does remove the original app from your device, while keeping the user data aside. When you are lacking free space on your iPhone, the iPhone filters out the most unused apps on the device. Then, it offloads the apps automatically. It does that to save the maximum amount of space it can in that process.

While the iPhone only offloads the apps that you rarely use, it can become troublesome for you if it offloads an important app. It is possible that an app is important for you, but you use it once in a while. So, if you find the app in ‘offloaded’ condition when you need it the most, it can be frustrating.

Fix – Disable Offload Unused Apps feature

There is a simple toggle in the App Store settings. You have to turn off the module to stop the iPhone from automatically offloading unused apps.

Step 1 – At first, open up the Settings on the iPhone.

Step 2 – Later, go to the “App Store” settings.

Once you have disabled this feature, iPhone won’t offload the unused apps anymore.

NOTE – Usually, iPhone doesn’t offload the unused apps. So, if you do have enough free space on your iPhone, you don’t have to worry about losing your apps. In most of the cases, iPhone won’t even offload any apps at all. So, we recommend that you don’t interfere with this feature until and unless you face some problem explicitly because of this.
