This error is seen when the current installation of MS Office is corrupted or some of the underlying registry keys have been corrupted.Before proceeding, ensure the following :
- The Office installation disk is inserted.
- The Disk where you want to install MS Office has enough free space.
In this article, we have listed some fixes that might help you solve this error.
Fix 1: Repair the MS Office Application
Step 1: Open the Run Dialog. Hold the keys Windows+r together.
Step 2: In the Run window, type appwiz.cpl, and hit Enter
Step 3: In the Program and Features window that opens, locate Microsoft Office Suite or Microsoft 365. Right-click on it and select Change
Step 4: If the UAC pops up asking for permissions, click on Yes
Step 5: In the appearing Microsoft pop-up window, tick on Quick Repair.
Step 6: Click on the Repair button
Step 7: Follow the instructions shown and repair the Office programs.
Step 8: Restart the application and check if the issue has been fixed.
Step 10: If the error is still present, try choosing Online Repair and click on Repair
Step 10: In the Ready to start an Online Repair Dialog, click on Repair
Restart the application and check if the error has been fixed.
Fix 2: Use the Fix-It tool from Microsoft
Step 1: Open your browser and visit the Fix-IT Tool Download Page
Step 2: Click on the Download troubleshooter button as shown below.
Step 3: Double-click on the downloaded file. Note that this would have a .diagcab extension.
Step 4: In the appearing window, click on the Next button.
Step 5: The troubleshooter will now start detecting the problems. It will notify the problem and also suggest a necessary fix. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the process.
Fix 3: Disk cleanup
Step 1: Open the Run Dialog using the keys Windows+R.
Step 2: Type the below command and press Enter.
cleanmgr.exe
Step 3: In the Disk Clean-up window, choose the drive where you want to install MS Office and click on OK.
Step 4: Disk Cleanup utility will start scanning.
Step 5: In the appearing window, ensure Recycle Bin and Temporary Files are ticked.
Step 6: Click on OK.
Step 7: In the confirmation dialog that appears, click on Delete Files.
