How to Fix Apps Not Downloading from App Store in iPhone

Recently many iPhone/iPad users have experienced an unusual issue on their iPhones/iPads. The problem is the applications are not getting downloaded from the App Store on their phones.

Not being able to download apps from the app store has left most iPhone users frustrated and it might be because of a lack of storage space, incorrect date and time, issues with the apple id like the password being updated, etc.

Preliminary fixes –

  1. Check the Internet connection on your iPhone first. You can do it by opening the YouTube app and trying to play any videos. If there is any problem with the internet connectivity, please restart the wifi router if you are using a wifi network or disable the mobile data connection and then enable it on your iPhone.
  2. Disconnect the Internet connection (Either Wi-Fi or Mobile Data) and restart your iPhone once. After the iPhone is restarted, connect the internet connection back to your iPhone and check if the Apps are getting downloaded on your App Store.

Fix 1 – Sign Out and then Sign in to iPhone again

If the user has recently changed the password for security purposes, then this might create problems on your iPhone since it has saved your old password and has been using the same for the App Store as well. So we need to sign out and then sign in successfully and then try and check if the applications are getting downloaded on the App Store.

Step 1: After unlocking your iPhone, open the Settings page by tapping on the settings icon as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 3: Scroll down the Apple ID page to the bottom and tap the Sign Out option once.

Step 4: Enter your Apple ID’s password and tap Turn Off at the top right corner of the prompted window as shown below.

Step 5: Then, toggle the Health, Keychain, and Safari toggle button to keep a copy of its data on your iPhone.

Step 6: Now tap the Sign Out button once as shown below.

Step 7: Confirm the sign-out decision by tapping on Sign Out on the pop-up window.

Step 8: This will start copying the iCloud data and signing out from the Apple ID.

Step 9: After you are signed out, tap on Sign in to your iPhone once.

Step 10: Enter your Apple ID on the popped-up window and tap on Next to continue.

Step 12: It will send a two-step verification code to your phone number. Please enter it to proceed.

Step 14: Tap on Merge to continue. You can also choose Don’t Merge if you do not want your calendar, Safari data, and contacts to get merged.

Fix 2 – Change the App Restrictions Settings

Content restrictions if enabled on your iPhone, could be responsible for this issue where it won’t allow the users to download some adult content apps on their iPhones. So change the app restrictions settings using the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone.

Step 2: Then go to the Screen Time option as shown below.

Step 3: Next, tap on the Content & Privacy Restrictions option.

Step 4: Now select the Content Restrictions option by tapping on it once.

Step 5: Tap on the Apps option.

Step 6: On the Apps page, make sure you have selected Allow option by tapping on it once as shown in the below screenshot.

Fix 3 – Reset the Network Settings

Most iPhone users have claimed that simply resetting the network settings can actually fix this issue. So we recommend try resetting the network settings on your iPhone and check if it works.

Step 8: This starts resetting the network settings on your iPhone.

Fix 4 – Check the iPhone Storage

There is a possibility that the lack of iPhone storage could be responsible for applications not downloading on your iPhone through the App Store. So one way to tackle it is to check if the iPhone Storage is full on your iPhone using the steps below.

Step 5: So you need to figure out what to be deleted in order to make some space to download the new applications from the App Store.

Step 6: After making space on your iPhone, try opening the App Store and downloading the application you want and see if this worked.

Fix 5 – Change the Date and Time settings

Some iPhone users expressed that they were able to resolve this issue by simply adjusting the date and time settings by setting the correct time zone automatically or manually on their iPhones. So we suggest our users also try doing the same with the help of the steps explained below.

Step 5: Otherwise, you can manually set the time zone by tapping on the Time Zone option after turning off the Set Automatically option.

Step 6: After you have set the correct time zone, check if the issue has got fixed.

Fix 6 – Pause the Download and Resume it again

When any app download gets stuck while downloading, it can be paused for resumed again after some time. This will initiate the download again and it starts downloading the app without any issue. It worked for many users so we advise our users also try this method once.

Step 1: First, try and download the application which you want from the App Store.

Step 2: If you feel that the application got stuck, then go to your home screen.

Step 3: There will be an icon of the application you are trying to download with the loading sign inside it.

Step 4: Just long tap on the icon and select Pause Download from the context menu by tapping on it as shown in the below screenshot.

Fix 7 – Turn Off the Low Data Mode

If the user has enabled the low data mode setting for their internet connection either Wi-Fi or Mobile network, it will cause a problem while downloading any heavy applications on the App Store on your iPhone. So let us try disabling the low data mode and see if this helps.

Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone first.

Step 2: Then tap on the Wi-fi option as shown below.

Step 5: You need to do the same with Mobile data as well. For that, you need to go back to the Settings page.

After doing this, check if the Apps are being downloaded on the App Store or not.

Fix 8 – Edit the App Downloads Settings

There are very good chances for this issue to occur with gamers who try to download a gaming application that is over 200 MB. Because by default, the App Downloads setting is set to the Ask if Over 200 MB option which will not allow you to download any app which is over 200 MB. So let us change that and see if it could help us in downloading the apps without any issues.

Step 1: Go to the Settings page by tapping on the Settings icon on the iPhone’s home screen.
