The auto-forwarding feature on the Gmail clients help users automatically forward emails to another user accounts without the need for an intermediatory user inputs. The main purpose of the forwarding of an email is to deliver the message to other recipients. While you can manually forward your emails directly to the needed recipients, this simple task can become bothersome sometimes. Automating this email forwarding can help you save a lot of time. This guide will help you set up the auto-forwarding feature on Gmail.
How to enable Auto forwarding feature on Gmail?
Forwarding one or two emails is easy, stretching that to even ten or twenty mails a day is doable. But, the problem starts to bicker when the number of emails, frequency and email delivery time increases. Instead of manually forwarding the emails, you can follow these steps to forward the emails directly to the recipient.
STEP 1 – Set up the forwarding system
Step 1 – Open up the Gmail client on a browser of your choice.
Step 2 – Now, open up a mail from the particular party that you want to get forwarded.
Step 3 – Then, copy their email address from that particular email.
Step 4 – Tap the ⚙ button there and click “See All Settings” to load up the mail settings.
Step 5 – Go to the “Forwarding POP/IMAP” panel.
Step 6 – Tap the “Add a forwarding address” option in there.
Step 7 – Now, enter the forwarding address in there and tap “Next“. Make a note that you or someone has to verify this forwarding request personally.
Step 8 – Tap “Proceed” to ask the email handler to send an email with confirmation request link.
Step 9 – Load up the email address in another browser tab (if it is possible).
Step 10 – There, you will see the confirmation link email in your inbox.
Step 11 – Open up that email.
Step 12 – Tap the confirmation link to verify the forwarding request.
Step 13 – Tap “Confirm” to finally approve the forwarding request.
[NOTE – You can confirm the request from any other devices as well.]
Finally, once you have confirmed the forwarding request, you can proceed to the next step.
Step 14 – Set the ‘Fowarding:‘ option to “Disable Forwarding“. Otherwise, it will forward all your messages to the recipient address.
Step 15 – Now, tap “Save changes” to save these modifications.
This concludes the first step of our process. Now, you must create a new filter to allow the messages from the particular recipient to get forwarded to the account.
STEP 2 – Create a Filter
You can create a filter to pass through the messages from a particular source. This way, the auto-forwarding protocol does the intended job.
Step 1 – On the Gmail inbox page, you will find a small icon on the search box.
Step 2 – Tap that “Show search options” there to load it up.
Step 3 – Paste the copied email address (whose emails you want to forward) in the “From:” box.
Step 4 – Tap the “Create Filter” option.
Step 5 – Now, on the extended part of the process, check the “Forward it to” and choose the forwarding email ID from the drop-down.
Step 6 – Tap the “Create filter” to create the filter.
This concludes the forwarding process setup. All the emails that you get from that particular email address will be forwarded to the email address that you have set up.
NOTE –
How to know if the setup process is successful or not? You can check your email settings for the filter that you have created. If it shows up the correct email addresses (both the recipient and sender’s addresses)
