Loosing a device is not just about losing the money. It’s about losing a lot of data, a lot of memories and a lot more. But what if you can find out where your device was last seen or even better, where is your device currently? Well, Windows 11 has the Find my Device feature inbuilt with it, that enables you to track down your device no matter where it is.
In this article, we explain in some simple steps how you can easily turn on the Find my Device feature, how you can disable it and how you can use it to successfully locate your missing / stolen device.
How to Enable Find My Device Feature
Step 1: Right click on the Windows Start menu icon in the taskbar and click on the Settings option.
Step 2: In the left pane of the Settings window, click on Privacy & security tab first.
In the right window pane, click on Find my device tab.
Step 3: Now, to enable the Find my device feature, turn On the toggle button against the Find my device option.
How to Locate a Device Using Find My Device Feature
Step 1: Right click on Windows Start menu icon in the taskbar and click on Settings option.
Step 2: In the left window pane, click on the tab Privacy & security.
In the right window pane, click on Find my device tab.
Step 3: In the Find my device window, click on the option that says See all your devices linked to your account.
Step 4: In the next step, you will be asked to login to your Microsoft account. Enter your Microsoft account credentials and login.
Step 5: Once you login, you will be able to see all the devices that uses the Microsoft account that you logged into.
Click on the Find my device button against the device that you want to find.
Step 6: In the next page that opens up, you will be able to see all the devices that uses your Microsoft account.
You will also be able to see the last seen location of the device that you are trying to find, under the Last location section.
If you want to find the current location of the device, you need to click on the Find button against the device.
Please note that this feature only provides maximum accuracy it can and not 100% accuracy on the location of the device.
Also, current location can be correctly identified only if the device is connected to the Internet and if location service is enabled.
How to Disable Find My Device Feature
Step 1: Press the Win and I keys together to launch the Settings application.
In the left side of the window, click on Privacy & security option and in the right side, click on Find my device option.
Step 2: To disable the Find my device feature, simply turn Off the toggle button for the option Find my device.
