Auto-Brightness is the feature present in most mobile phones these days which when enabled, allows the screen brightness to get adjusted according to the surrounding light. It means when there is low light in the room, it lowers the brightness of the phone and increases the brightness when you are in the broad daylight outside.
But some users who are uncomfortable with this feature turned off Auto-brightness on their phones. Recently many reported that even after turning off the Auto-Brightness feature on the iPhone, the iPhone’s screen brightness keeps changing and this is not what the users wanted.
Now they are not sure what should they do to resolve this issue. There could be some other settings called Night shift, Reduce White Point, etc. when turned on, which might be responsible for such issues on their iPhones.
After analyzing these possible factors which could cause this brightness issue on any iPhone, we have compiled a bunch of solutions in this article below which will definitely be going to help the users.
Fix 1 – Turn Off the Auto-Brightness option
Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone and tap on the Accessibility option.
Step 2: Next, select the Display & Text Size option by tapping on it once.
Step 3: Now turn off the Auto-Brightness feature by tapping on its toggle button to disable it.
Step 4: After it is disabled, you will see that the screen brightness does not change with the surrounding light.
Fix 2 – Turn Off Night Shift
Step 1: Open the iPhone and go to the Settings page.
Step 2: Tap on the Display & Brightness option once.
Step 3: Scroll down the page and you will find an option called Night Shift.
Step 4: Tap on it to open its page.
Step 5: Now tap on the Scheduled toggle button to turn it Off as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 6: This will disable the Night Shift option on your iPhone.
Fix 3 – Disable Reduce White Point feature
Step 1: First of all, open the Settings page on your iPhone after unlocking it.
Step 2: Then go to the Accessibility page by tapping on the Accessibility option from the Settings page.
Step 3: Tap on the Display & Text Size option once.
Step 4: Scroll down this page and make sure to turn off the Reduce White Point by tapping on its toggle button as shown below.
Step 5: Once done, close the page.
Fix 4 – Cool down your iPhone
Whenever any mobile phone starts getting heated due to either overcharging or being overloaded by opening many heavy applications at once, as a precautionary measure it starts lower the phone temperature by reducing the brightness of the screen.
This can cause the Auto-brightness to work when things like these happen on your iPhone. So we suggest our users try to reduce the iPhone temperature by cooling it down using different techniques like keeping it in a cool place, etc.
Fix 5 – Disable Attention Aware Features option
Step 1: Tap on the Settings icon to open the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2: Then scroll down and tap on the Face ID & Passcode option once to open its page.
Step 3: Now it will prompt you to enter your passcode to proceed.
Step 4: After entering the passcode, scroll down the Face ID & Passcode page.
Step 5: Tap on the Attention-Aware Features toggle button to disable it.
Fix 6 – Disable the True Tone feature
Step 1: Tap on the Settings icon to open the Settings page.
Step 2: Now tap on the Display & Brightness option once.
Step 3: Under the Brightness section, tap on the True Tone option’s toggle button once to turn it Off by changing its color from green to grey.
Fix 7 – Restart your iPhone
Sometimes, restarting any device can fix most of the problems caused by various factors. So we advise you to try restarting your iPhone and see if this works.
Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2: Tap on the General option and scroll down it down to the bottom.
Step 3: Then tap on the Shut Down option once at the bottom of the General page.
Step 4: Then follow the onscreen instructions by swiping the option right side which will then shut down the iPhone.
Step 5: Now keep pressing the side volume up button and power button together at once for a few seconds till you see the Apple icon on the screen.
Step 6: This will start the iPhone and you can use it without any issues.
Fix 8 – Change Auto-Lock to more minutes
Step 1: After unlocking the iPhone, tap on the Settings icon once.
Step 2: Next, tap on the Display & Brightness option once to open it.
Step 3: Then find the Auto-Lock option at the bottom and tap on it.
Step 4: Make sure you have selected more than 2 minutes from the list of time frames.
Step 5: This will not dim the screen for the time frame you have selected. So we suggest not setting it to 30 seconds.
Fix 9 – Reset All Settings on your iPhone
NOTE – When you reset all settings on your iPhone, it will reset only the settings of the iPhone to their default values and will not erase or delete any data of yours.
Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2: Then tap on the General option once.
Step 3: Tap on the Reset option as shown below.
Step 4: Now Select Reset All Settings option from the list by tapping on it once as shown.
Step 5: To proceed further, please enter your passcode when prompted on the screen.
Step 6: Please tap on Reset All Settings on the pop-up window to continue.
Step 7: This will start to reset all your iPhone settings without losing any personal data.
