Attention Aware feature is greyed out in Settings in iPhone: Fix

Why the Attention Aware Feature is disabled on iPhone

Attention Aware features are the set of options that your iPhone use to provide a better experience on your iPhone. But sometimes, these set of features can become very annoying and degrade the user’s experience. In that case, disabling the Attention Aware feature should take care of the problem.

But, in some conditions, your iPhone may block your access to the Attention Aware feature toggle. Like, when the ‘Screen Distance’ option is enabled, you can’t touch the Attention Aware feature because they are correlated. In order to enable or disable the feature, you have to take care of the Screen Distance settings, first.

 

Fix – Disable the Screen Distance feature

Attention Aware features need to be turned on for this, supported features like Screen Distance to work.

Step 1 – Unlock your iPhone, and you should be on the Home Screen page.

Step 2 – Look for this ⚙ icon among all the other apps. Once you have found it, tap that to open it up.

Step 3 – Thereafter, you need to go to the “Screen Time” settings. So, tap that to open it up.

Step 4 – Go through the entire Screen Time settings page.

Step 5 – Look for the term “Screen Distance” setting. Touch to open that up.

Step 6 – In there, turn off the “Screen Distance” feature.

Now, if you have enabled the Screen Time Pass code*, there will be an extra layer of security.

Step 7 – So, input the four digit Screen Time pass code* to proceed through that page.

This way, the process of turning the Screen Distance feature completes.

Step 8 – Now, return to the main Settings page and open the “Face ID & Passcode” settings.

Step 9 – To access this page, you must use the 6-digit Apple Passkey to verify your access.

Step 10 – Simply, scroll down and find the “Attention-Aware Features” option. This time, it won’t appear to be greyed out.

The Attention Aware feature won’t be greyed out on your iPhone.

*NOTE – The Screen Time Pass Code is the 4-digit pass code that protects the several Screen Time features. You can’t change certain important Screen Time settings or features unless you have the correct Screen Time Pass Code.

Can’t recall the Screen Time Passcode? Follow these steps to change or disable it.

Step 1 – On the Settings window, open up the “Screen Time” settings.

Step 2 – Tap the “Change Screen Time Passcode” option.

Step 3 – There will be two of these options –

Change Screen Time Passcode

 

Step 4 – Choose any one of these preferred settings to proceed.

Step 5 – Lock Screen Time Settings will ask for the existing code. In that same page, you shall find the “Forgot Passcode?” option. Use that.

Step 6 – You have to provide your Apple ID associated email ID there and tap “OK” on the top.

You will receive an email containing a secured link that you can use to reset the Screen Time Passcode on your iPhone.
