Sending the Read Receipts to the sender of messages let them know whether you have read/seen their messages. But, what if your iPhone is sending read receipts data even when you have set it to off mode? This is not a normal case, and your iPhone won’t send the Read Receipts data if you have disabled it. These solutions will be of help, if you want to troubleshoot it.
Fix 1 – Turn off the Read receipts option
You must disable the Read Receipts in the iPhone settings. This way, your iPhone won’t send any of the Read Receipts to any of the recipients.
Step 1 – Start by going to the iPhone’s Settings.
Step 2 – Later, scroll down and open the “Messages” app.
Step 3 – Scroll up through the Messages settings, and find the “Send Read Receipts” option and disable it.
Once you have disabled the “Send Receipts” option, the iPhone won’t send any of the receipts.
Send a demo message from your secondary number or ask any of your friend to send you a message. Check whether they can see the read receipts or not.
Fix 2 – Disable Read receipts for individual account
Though you have disabled the transfer or read receipts option universally, it is possible that the ‘Read Receipts’ option is still enabled for a particular contact.
Step 1 – Open the Messages app.
Step 2 – There you must find the contact that is reading your receipts. Next, open that up.
Step 3 – In the header section, you will find the emblem of that person (contact photo along with the name). You have to tap that to load its settings.
Step 4 – On the following page, scroll up and disable the “Send Read Receipts” feature.
Step 5 – Next, tap the “Done” button to save the changes for the account.
Do this for the all the contacts where the iPhone is sending your read receipts.
Once you are done, these contacts won’t get the message receipt information.
Fix 3 – Update your iOS
If the recipient is still getting the read receipts, you can update your iOS.
Step 1 – At first, open the ⚙ to get access to the Settings.
Step 2 – Next, go to open the “General” tab.
Step 3 – There, you will find the “Software Update” option in the list of options.
Step 4 – Let the iPhone fetch the iOS update data.
If you see an update is pending for the iOS from this page, you must install the update right way.
Step 5 – So, tap the “Install now” button there to install the OS update quickly.
The part of the iOS upgrade process is a system reboot. Your iPhone will reboot automatically at the time of iOS upgrade.
After updating to the latest build, the Read Receipts won’t show up anymore.
