The phone app is the most used application after any web browser or social media application on any mobile phone. Recently it has been noticed by many iPhone users have that the phone application icon was missing from their iPhone’s home screen and they are not able to get it.
Most probably, it might have been misplaced by some other users who were using the iPhones after long pressing on the phone app and tapping on the remove app option. This could be one of the possibilities.
Many iPhone users are frustrated because this might sound silly but in any emergency, this can be a serious problem. If you are also going through the same situation, then do not fret! We have got many ways by which you can get back your Phone icon back to your home screen on your iPhone explained below in this article.
Fix 1 – Reset Home Screen Layout on your iPhone
If the home screen layout has been disoriented by the user unknowingly then you can always reset the home screen layout by rearranging the application icons and other layout structures to the factory default values using the steps explained below.
Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone first by tapping on the settings icon from the home screen.
Step 2: Then go to the General option as shown below.
Step 3: Scroll down the General page and tap on the Transfer or Reset iPhone option.
Step 4: Now choose the Reset option by tapping on it once.
Step 5: This will pop up a small menu window on the screen.
Step 6: Choose the Reset Home Screen Layout option from the menu as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 7: Now simply tap on the Reset Home Screen option and it will start resetting them on your iPhone.
Step 8: Once done, check if the Phone icon has appeared back on the home screen.
Fix 2 – Add Phone icon to Home Screen from App Library
Using the App library is another way to fix this issue and get back the phone icon on your home screen. Let us see how this can be done using the steps explained below.
Step 1: First you need to unlock your iPhone and reach the home screen.
Step 2: Next, swipe the screen from the right to the left side on your iPhone till you get to see the App Library screen.
Step 3: Once you get the App Library, tap on the Social folder where you can find the Phone icon as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 4: Then long tap on the Phone icon and tap on the Add to Home Screen option from the context menu as shown below.
Step 5: After that, you can see the Phone icon on your home screen to open it very handy on your iPhone.
Fix 3 – Use Siri to open the Phone app
This is quite an easy way to search or perform any tasks on your iPhone and it is Siri. You can always activate Siri by saying ‘Hey Siri‘ and when it gets activated, you can directly ask to call any particular contact from your contacts on iPhone.
If you want to use the Phone app, you can just say ‘Hey Siri, open the Phone app‘ and once it opens the Phone app, you can dial any number to call. This is one alternative way to open the Phone app.
NOTE – We don’t recommend doing it during an emergency since it might take some time in the process.
Fix 4 – Open the Phone app using Spotlight Search
This is a quick way to search for any application on any iPhone that is missing or present on the home screen. Even if sometimes, when the application icon is present on the home screen but we are unable to find it because of many icons, we can use the spotlight to search for any specific application.
Here are the steps on how you can do it.
Step 1: Reach the home screen on your iPhone after unlocking it using a passcode or FaceId.
Step 2: Once you are on the home screen, swipe down on the empty space at the bottom of the home screen.
Step 3: This opens the Spotlight search on your iPhone.
Step 4: Type phone in the search bar as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 5: It will show all the applications that start with the keyword phone as shown below.
Step 6: Just tap on the Phone application icon on top of the results.
Step 7: This will open the phone application on your iPhone.
