This error is because Microsoft doesn’t validate the activation code. This generally happens because:
- The license has been bought from an unauthorized channel or is fraudulently bought.
- The System came with a built-in home version and you are trying to upgrade it.
- The license has been brought from authorized, official channels, yet there is an error.
If you are encountering this error in your system, don’t panic. In this article, we have come up with certain fixes that will help you fix the Activation error with error code 0xc004c060 in your system.

Fix 1: Run the Activation Troubleshooter
Step 1: Using the keys Windows+R, open the Run Dialog window.
Step 2: Type ms-settings:activation and press on the Ok button.
Step 3: In the opening window, click on the Troubleshoot button on the right-hand side as shown below.
Step 4: Wait patiently till the troubleshooter detects the problem and suggests the fix.
Step 5: Follow the on-screen instructions and apply the fix.
Step 6: Try activating the Windows or Office suite again, check if this fixes the error. If not try the next fix.
Fix 2: Using slmgr command
If you had Windows 10/11 Home version in your system when you purchased the system and you are seeing the error since you upgraded it to Windows 10/11 Pro, then try activating using the slmgr command. Below are the steps :
Step 1: Open the Run Dialog using the keys Windows+R.
Step 2: Type cmd and hold the keys Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
Step 3: In the User Access Confirmation dialog that opens, click on Yes.
Step 4: In the Command prompt window that opens, enter the below commands one after the other. Make sure to hit Enter after every command.
slmgr /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx slmgr /ato
NOTE: Replace the x’s with your unique 25 character product activation code.

Fix 3: Reach out to the Microsoft Customer Care
If you have bought the Windows Product Activation key from an official channel and are still seeing the issue, try reaching out to Microsoft Customer Care. They will be able to fix this issue remotely.

If you have bought the key from an unauthorized channel, you can try your luck by asking for a refund. But mostly, no refund is given as these are fraudulent means.
