iPhone Screen Color Turned Negative [Fix]

One day you wake up and see that your iPhone screen color has turned negative. It just shows white and black colors. Doesn’t it scare you off? Well, if it is so, don’t worry! you are not alone. We have been receiving several reports from many iPhone users these days complaining about this type of issue where their iPhone screen color has changed to negative.

No matter what they do, it still remained the same and it has made all those users frustrated. This problem could possibly occur on your iPhone due to some minor technical glitch within the iPhone, changes done to the color invert settings or zoom filters settings, etc.

Fix 1 – Turn Off Smart/Classic Invert Settings on your iPhone

Classic invert settings when enabled cause the screen color to turn negative. So disabling this setting might fix this issue. Whereas, you need to check another setting called Smart Invert, which inverts the screen color, although some apps and images might appear normal.

Let us see how to turn it off using the steps below.



Step 1: First of all, you need to open the Settings app on your iPhone by tapping on the settings icon from the home screen.

Step 2: After the settings page appears, scroll down and select the Accessibility option by clicking on it as shown below.

Step 3: Now tap on the Display & Text Size option as shown.

Step 4: Once the Display & Text Size page opens, scroll it down and disable the Smart Invert and Classic Invert settings by tapping on its toggle switch as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 5: This inverts the screen color on your iPhone and turns it to normal.

Fix 2 – Disable Zoom Filters on iPhone

The Zoom feature allows the user to magnify their screen by double-tapping using three fingers or even dragging. But when enabled, the user might have changed the Zoom Filters setting on their iPhone which may be the reason behind this problem.

So turn off the zoom feature using the steps explained below.

Step 1: First, you need to open the Settings page on the iPhone.

Step 2: After the Settings app opens, scroll down and tap on the Accessibility option as shown below.

Step 3: Then select the Zoom option by clicking on it.

Step 4: You have to disable the Zoom feature by tapping on the Zoom option’s toggle switch at the top of the page as shown in the below image.

Step 5: If you want to use the Zoom feature on your iPhone, you can keep it enabled, but tap on the Zoom Filter option at the bottom as shown below.

Step 6: Now make sure None is selected from the list.

Step 7: This changes the iPhone screen color to normal.



Fix 3 – Turn Off the Dark Mode

If you have enabled the Dark Mode theme on your iPhone, it might make your iPhone screen appear negative. Therefore, try changing the theme from Dark to Light and see if this fixes the issue.

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on the iPhone and scroll it down a bit.

Step 2: Look for the Display & Brightness option and click on it to open it.

Additional Fix

Restart the iPhone

When you find some oddly behaving features or issues on your iPhone, that could possibly be because of some internal technical problem within the iPhone. So what you can do is try restarting your iPhone once and see if this removes any software bugs from your iPhone and resolves the issue.

To restart your iPhone, first shut down your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Shut Down and then follow the onscreen instructions. Once it is shut down, press and hold the volume up and power buttons together till the Apple logo appears on the screen.
