Number of email messages always goes up with time. Email messages from all the sources, where you have logged in with your email ID or opted for regular newsletters, they will clutter your inbox. There is no direct option to delete all the unread mails at once available on the Gmail client. But, there is a way that you can take to remove all the unread mails from your inbox.
Deleting all the unread mails at once from Gmail inbox?
Email inbox quickly becomes a container of incoming email messages. It is not possible for the users to go through all the emails they receive on their email handles. So, it doesn’t take much time for the unread emails, promotions, junk emails to stack up in their inbox. This unread email message counter shows up in the header of the Gmail inbox. If you are using an iPhone or Apple devices, you will see a ludicrous number on the Mail app icon.
But, there is no simple way of getting rid of these unread email messages, because there is no single-step solution to delete them. You have to take advantage of an identifier to filter out all the unread emails, select them and remove them from your inbox.
Fix – Use the unread identifier
You have to use an unread identifier to scan for all the unread email messages on your Gmail inbox. Select them and delete them from your computer.
Step 1 – Open up the Gmail inbox on a new browser page.
Step 2 – Next, go to the search box in the Gmail inbox and type this identifier in there and hit Enter.

This will sort out the unread email messages in the inbox.
Step 3 – Next, tap to choose the “Most recent” from the drop-down menu.
Step 4 – Tap the small box icon on the left corner of the Gmail inbox to select all the emails.
Now, this selects only the number of email messages that you can view in that page. This solely depends upon the number of messages you have selected to view. It is capped to 50 conversations by default.
Step 5 – But, we are here to select all the unread messages in our account. So, tap the “Select all conversations that match this search” option.
This action will select all the unread conversations in your email account.
Step 6 – While all the messages are selected, tap the bin icon to delete all the unread messages.
Step 7 – It will ask for your permission to confirm the bulk action. So, tap “OK” to initiate the process.

The entire process of deleting the unread emails in the inbox is a server side operation. So, this process of deleting these emails may take some time, provided you have a huge number of backlog of unread email messages.
After some time, you will see there are no unread email messages left in your Gmail inbox. This will reduce the clutter in your inbox significantly.

NOTE – If you have mistakenly initiated this action, you can lose the access to some of your important unread email messages. After initiating the deletion process, look out for the prompt which appears after you have opted to delete them. Use the “Undo” option to revert the action, and the unread messages will show up in your inbox again.
