Dictation not working on Apple Watch – How to fix

Having some problem dictating commands to Siri on your Apple Watch? The convenience of the dictation feature cannot be ignored on the watch, where the usage of keyboard is quite limited. The restricted space on the watch face demands special features, like the dictation, to make the device more useful and user-friendly. These solutions will help you troubleshoot the problem.

Fix 1 – Enable the ‘Hey Siri’ module

You must turn on the Hey Siri features on your Apple Watch.

Step 1 – Open up the list of apps on your Watch.

Step 2 – Tap to load up the “⚙” button there.

You have to revoke the restriction on the Siri & Dictation feature.

Step 1 – Open up the iPhone Settings.

Step 2 – Next, load up the “Screen Time” settings.

Fix 3 – Use the same language on both the devices

You must use the same language on your iPhone and on the watch to utilize the complete capabilities of the dictation feature. Like, if the language on the Apple Watch is set to ‘French’ or ‘Mandarin’ and the language on the iPhone is set to ‘English (US)’, dictation won’t work on the device.

Step 1 – In the iPhone Settings, tap to reach the “General” tab.

Step 2 – Next, load up the “Language & Region” module.

Step 2 – Then, go to the “General” tab.

Fix 5 – Refresh the Siri features

You can just disable the Siri features and re-enable them again.

Step 2 – On the iPhone Settings page, load up the Settings page.

Step 3 – Next, tap to go to the “Siri” features.
