Is the Tap to Download function not working on your iPhone? The Tap to Download feature is availble on the iMessage app on the iPhones and other iOS devices. If this feature is not working or you can’t download videos or files on the app, go through these solutions to fix that.
Fix 1 – Turn off and on the iMessage service
You have to turn off the iMessage service and later refresh the service. This should make the Messages useful.
Step 1 – Open the Settings panel.
Step 2 – Later, go to the “Apps” module.
Step 3 – Thereafter, touch to open the “Messages” app in there.
Step 4 – After loading up the Messages settings, disable the “iMessage” feature.
Step 5 – Next, wait for a few seconds and re-enable the same feature.
After refreshing the iMessage service, check the iMessages app once again. Try to download the files once more.
Fix 2 – Reset the Network Settings
You can reset all of the network components on your iPhone.
Step 1 – Open the Settings and go this way –
General > Transfer or reset iPhone
Step 2 – In the Transfer or Reset page, choose the “Reset” option.
Step 3 – You can tap the “Reset Network Settings” component.
Proceed to the network component clearance part where you just have to verify the access.
Finally, your iPhone restarts. You have to reconnect to your Wi-Fi manually again. See whether you can download the messages in iMessage app.
Fix 3 – Refresh the network with Airplane mode
Refresh iPhone’s network just by toggling the Airplane mode on and off.
Step 1 – At first, swipe down to view the Control Center.
Step 2 – Tap to envoke the Airplane mode from there.
Step 3 – Wait for a few seconds and later, disable the Airplane mode.
This should refresh the network compoents of the iPhone. Check whether this works.
Fix 4 – Refresh the Messages function in iCloud
If you have your Messages connected to the iCloud, the synchronization can hamper the downloading process.
Step 1 – To do this, you have to open the Settings utility, first.
Step 2 – Then, tap the Apple ID there.
Step 3 – Later, tap the “iCloud” option to load up the iCloud page on your iPhone.
Step 4 – Next, tap the “Messages” option.
Step 5 – Tap to disable the “Use on this iPhone” feature.
Step 6 – If it asks for you to keep the messages downloaed on your device.
Step 7 – Now, later, enable the “Use on this iPhone” feature.
After this, close the Messages app. The ‘Tap to download’ feature will be operational once again.
Fix 5 – Force restart the iPhone
The force-restart process can help solving this issue.
Step 1 – On your iPhone, tap and release the Volume Up button for once.
Step 2 – Next, hold and release the Volume Down button.
Step 3 – Finally, hold the Power button and keep doing that for 10-15 seconds. Doing this will shut down your iPhone, and later, it will reboot automatically.
Once you have executed this procedure, you can use the ‘Tap to download’ feature in the Messages app. Check if this works.
Fix 6 – Update the iPhone
You should update the device, provided if there is an update is already pending.
Step 1 – Get to the iPhone’s “General” settings tab.
Step 2 – Next, open up the “Software Update” section in there.
Step 3 – Thereafter, open the “Update Now” to update the device.
Once you update your iPhone, you can use the ‘Tap to download’ function again. Check if this works.
