You can take control of your music directly from the lock screen on your iPhone. But, what if you can’t play/pause songs in Apple Music on your lock screen? It is one of the ease of use features that let you control the music without bothering you to unlock the iPhone. This can just be a glitch in the Apple Music app or a small alteration of the related settings.
Fix 1 – Enable the Lock Screen Widget
You must allow the lock screen widgets on your iPhone for the Apple Music one to work on your iPhone’s lock screen.
Step 1 – At first, you must get to the Settings page.
Step 2 – There, you will find the “Face ID & Passcode” settings.
Step 3 – As this is a very secure part of the iOS, you have to input the Apple pass key to get access to the Face ID settings.
Step 4 – In the FaceID page, scroll down and see whether the “Lock Screen widgets” option is enabled or not.
Step 5 – If it is not enabled, you must enable it. But, if it is already enabled, you should disable it and re-enable it later.
Once you have re-enabled the lock screen widgets feature, you will see the Apple Music in the lock screen, and you can control music without even unlocking the device.
Fix 2 – Force quit the Apple Music
We have mentioned this earlier that this can just be a glitch in the Apple Music app. So, you must force-stop the Apple Music app and retry.
Step 1 – Swiping up from the left of the screen should let you see all the instances of apps running on your device.
Step 2 – Next, just swipe up to force-quit the Apple Music app.
Once you have force quit the Apple Music app, re-open the Apple Music.
Play a random song in there. Lock the iPhone. Now, wake up the iPhone and try to control music from the lock screen widget or not.
Fix 3 – Update the iOS
Apple Music also gets update when you update your iOS. So, you must update the iOS to the latest version.
Step 1 – To do this, visit the Settings page one more time.
Step 2 – Next, click to open the “General” tab.
Step 3 – When you view the General settings, find the “Software Update” option.
Step 4 – Allow a second or two for the iOS to accumulate the iOS update information on your device.
Step 5 – When it does that, and if there is an update pending for iOS, you can install the update. So, tap “Install now” button there to install the OS update quickly.
The update process of the iOS depends upon several parameters like the update size. So, all you have to do is to wait for the iOS to get updated, and your iPhone gets rebooted.
When your iPhone does get updated, it will restore the control of the Apple Music directly from the lock screen.
Fix 4 – Uninstall & Reinstall Apple Music
The final solution that you can apply to fix this issue is to uninstall the Apple Music and reinstall the same.
NOTE – In this process, you will lose all of your downloaded songs and albums. Don’t worry. You can re-download those again after installing the app.
Step 1 – Look for the “Apple Music” app on your phone. Additionally, you can perform a search from the App Library to locate it as well.
Step 2 – Next, hold the “Apple Music” app and tap “Delete App“.
Step 3 – When the confirmation prompt comes, tap “Delete” to remove the Apple Music app temporarily from your iPhone.
Step 4 – After deleting the Apple Music app, open the App Store.
Step 5 – There, type “Apple Music” and install it from there.
Once you have installed Apple Music, open it up.
Play a music of your choice and check out the lock screen yourself. The Apple Music widget will work normally.
Hope these fixes have solved the issue.
