How to fix Google Map orientation issue on iPhone

Having orientation issues on the Google Map on your iPhone? Unlike the other problems that we face regularly with the Google Maps, like the location issues, this problem is completely different from that. The main problem here is that cursor direction is always changing direction on its own. Every time it does that, you have to use your fingers to rotate the screen.

Why you are facing this Google Map orientation issue?

The pointer behavior that you are experiencing on the Google Maps is completely normal. When you set up a destination on the Google Maps and start the journey, it keeps the map always north up. So, whenever you rotate to check out the surroundings of the map, it just auto-rotates back to the standard position, north up. This minimizes the need for frequent user input to adjust the map.

But, this same feature or ease of usage can become a liability when you don’t want the map to re-orient after you switched the map around. You have to disable certain settings to do that. Simply, disable the Always North Up feature in the Google Maps settings, and it will fix the autorotation function of the map.

Fix – Disable the Always North up feature

You have to disable the Always North Up feature from the Google Maps settings.

Step 1 – You need to open up the Google Maps first.

Step 2  If the Google Maps app is already running, and you have a direction opened up on the map, tap the cross button to cancel the trip details for now.

The automatic navigation orientation feature won’t work on the Google Maps app. Once you rotate the map, it won’t rotate automatically to show you the north side of the map.

Warning – The effectiveness and need of this feature can not be ignored while you are driving. So, we recommend you don’t turn off this feature while you are driving or about to do the same. If you turn this off, you have to manually adjust the rotation on the Google Maps app while driving, which is absolutely not recommended.
