The apps can get updated to the latest version automatically if you have set it to do so. So, if the apps on your device are not getting updated automatically, there is something wrong. You may not realize this as an issue, but there are several apps (like banking or finance), that you should always update to the latest version. We have explained this in details later along with the reason behind this error and the prominent solution to tackle this.
Why the apps are not updating automatically on the iPhone?
Almost all the apps receives updates, but the update frequency differs one application to another. Banking apps or Finance apps that you use for banking purpose gets more update to fix bugs or glitches. So, the automatic app updates are necessary for these kinds of apps.
The main reason why the apps are not updating on your iPhone is because that particular settings is blocked in the device settings. There are also separate restrictions on auto-update policy for apps over cellular data. So, you must check both the settings and do what is required to re-enable this app auto-update feature.
Fix – Enable the Auto Update for apps
You can do this from the iPhone Settings panel.
Step 1 – Load up the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2 – Next, go to the “App Store” page.
Step 3 – In that App Store panel, you must turn on the “App Updates” option.
That’s it! Once you have enabled this, all the apps that have the update pending will be installed automatically on your iPhone. You have to remember that this feature is limited to the Wi-Fi mode only. But, you can set the same thing for the mobile data as well.
Alternative Solution –
Besides having the Auto-Update feature turned on for the Wi-Fi network, you can do that same for the mobile data settings as well.
Step 1 – Open up the Settings.
Step 2 – Next, load up the “App Store” settings.
Step 3 – In that App Store page, go to the ‘Mobile data‘ panel.
Step 4 – Enable the “Automatic Downloads” option.
Once you do this, the apps on your iPhone can get their updates even while you are using the cellular data.
NOTE – If you are on a limited mobile data plan, you should never sign up for the automatic updates on your cellular data. For most of the users, we recommend you stick to update your apps over the Wi-Fi. This is a background process, and you can enjoy the updated apps without even bothering to update them manually.
