These days, smartphones not just alert users with a call or message notifications, but also with the calendar, alarm, and other important notifications on the iPhones. Many iPhone users have encountered an issue with their iPhones where they are unable to get any reminder alerts about meetings, alarms, calendars, etc.
This is making them miss out on recent updates or events occurring because of no reminder alerts. This is causing the issue because the Reminder app has been set as a widget on the iPhone or the reminder notifications alert is turned off, etc.
In order to resolve this issue, we have researched this matter to dig for more information. Don’t worry if you are also facing a similar type of problem because we have compiled a bunch of fixes in the article below.
Fix 1 – Check the Reminder Alerts setting
When the reminders alerts sound is set to none, then whenever there is a notification from the Reminders app, it will not alert with any tone. So we advise you to check the reminder alerts setting using the steps explained below.
Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2: Then choose the Sounds & Haptics option by tapping on it as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 3: Once the Sounds & Haptics page opens, scroll down and tap on the Reminder Alerts option as shown below.
Step 4: Now select any tone under the Alert Tones section. Make sure it is not set to None from the list.
Step 5: This should solve the issue. If not, try other solutions given below.
Fix 2 – Ensure the Notifications setting is enabled
If the Notifications settings are not enabled correctly on the iPhone, it will not show any notifications on the iPhone screen including calls and messages as well. So try checking the Notifications setting on your iPhone using the steps below.
Step 1: Go to the Settings page on the iPhone.
Step 2: On the Settings page, tap the Notifications option as shown below.
Step 3: Then select one of the Display As options shown.
Step 4: After that, tap on the Show Previews option.
Step 5: Now select the Always option from the list as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 6: Next, scroll down the list of apps below on the Notifications page and tap on the Reminders app as shown below.
Step 7: This opens the Reminders page and you need to enable the Allow notifications option by tapping on its toggle button.
Step 8: Then tap on all the Alerts options like Lock Screen, Notification Centre, and Banners as shown below.
Step 9: Also enable the Badges option by switching its toggle button.
Fix 3 – Allow iCloud to Access Reminders App
Some iPhone users claimed that they have resolved this issue by simply enabling iCloud to access the Reminders app. Let us try doing the same using the below steps.
Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2: Go to the Profile Page by tapping on the Profile name at the top as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 3: Now tap on the iCloud option once.
Step 4: Next, you need to tap on Show All to view all other apps using iCloud.
Step 5: This shows all the apps that use iCloud. Search for the Reminders app from the list.
Step 6: Enable it by tapping on its toggle button as shown in the below image.
Fix 4 – Remove Reminders App as Widget
Many iPhone users noticed that because the Reminders app is set as a widget on their iPhones, they are getting this issue. It got resolved when they removed it as a widget from their iPhones. Follow the steps below on how to remove the Reminders app as a widget.
Step 1: Keep swiping your home screen to the right till you reach the widget screen.
Step 2: Then tap on the Edit button at the bottom as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 3: After tapping on the Edit button, to remove the Reminders app, tap on the minus sign at the top left corner of the Reminder widget.
Step 4: This pops up the Remove “Reminders” Widget? window and you need to tap on Remove as shown below.
Step 5: This will remove the Reminders app as a widget.
Fix 5 – Uninstall the Reminders App and Install it again
This problem got raised may be due to some issues with the Reminders app itself. So reinstalling this app again on the iPhone might help resolve it.
Here are the steps on how to do it.
Step 1: Unlock your iPhone and go to the home screen.
Step 2: Search for the Reminders app on your home screen.
Step 3: Long tap on the Reminders app and select the Remove app option from the context menu.
Step 4: Now on the pop-up window, tap the Delete App option.
Step 5: Then tap on the Delete button on the confirm pop-up on the screen.
Step 6: This will uninstall the Reminders app from your iPhone.
Step 7: After this, you need to install it back again.
Step 8: To do so, open the App Store on your iPhone first.
Step 9: Tap on the Search tab at the bottom and type reminders on the top search bar.
Step 10: On the Results page, look for the Reminders app and tap on the cloud symbol to reinstall it on the iPhone.
Step 11: After it gets installed, check whether the issue still remains.
Fix 6 – Reset All Settings
When some of the iPhone settings have been altered by some other user or you by mistake, it can be responsible for such a problem as discussed above. So try resetting all settings using the steps below.
Step 1: Go to the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2: Tap on the General option once.
Step 3: Tap on the Reset option as shown below.
Step 4: Now choose the Reset All Settings option from the list by tapping on it once as shown.
Step 5: To proceed further, please enter your passcode when prompted on the screen.
Step 6: Please tap on Reset All Settings on the pop-up window to continue.
Step 7: This will start to reset all your iPhone settings without worrying about losing any personal data.
Additional Fixes
Restart your iPhone
This issue can also be simply fixed sometimes by just restarting the iPhone.
Step 1: To restart your iPhone, go to the Settings page first and then tap on the General option.
Step 2: After that tap on Shut Down at the bottom of the page and follow the onscreen instructions to shut down the iPhone.
Step 3: After that, to start your iPhone, you need to press and hold the volume up and power buttons together till you see Apple’s logo sign on your screen.
Check if the problem is fixed.
Update your iPhone
Sometimes, most problems as discussed above in this article, that are bound to occur on any device can be resolved by updating the device. So we suggest our users try updating the iPhone using the steps explained below.
Step 1: This fix would be to check if there are any updates available for your iPhone.
Step 2: You have to go to the Settings page on your iPhone and tap on the General option.
Step 3: Then select the Software Update option by tapping on it once and wait for a few seconds until it loads the page.
Step 4: If there are any updates available, please tap on Download and Install to update your iPhone.
Step 5: After the update is completed, check if the issue still persists or not.
Factory Reset the iPhone
If none of the fixes discussed above fixed the issue for you, you can always try performing the factory reset on your iPhone and see if this helps.
NOTE – Please back up all your necessary personal data from the iPhone to your PC or iCloud because the factory reset will erase all contents and data from your iPhone.
Step 1: Open the Settings page and tap on the General option.
Step 2: Now choose the Transfer or Reset iPhone option.
Step 3: Next, tap on the Erase All Content and settings option at the bottom of the page as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 4: Tap on the Continue option and follow all the onscreen instructions on your iPhone.
Step 5: Once your iPhone is factory reset, the problem should be resolved.
