In this article, we have compiled a bunch of solutions that can assist users who are facing the iPhone not going to sleep when not used issue on their iPhones.
Fix 1 – Modify the Auto-Lock Setting on your iPhone
The auto-lock feature on your iPhone is the setting when enabled, automatically locks the iPhone after a certain time of inactivity. If the Auto-Lock setting is set to an option called Never, then it will never lock your iPhone at all. So we recommend that you have to set the Auto-lock setting to 30 seconds, 1 minute, etc. but not Never.
Follow the steps to change the Auto-Lock setting on your iPhone.
Step 1: Open the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2: Tap on the Display & Brightness option as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 3: Scroll down the page and tap on Auto-Lock.
Step 4: On the Auto-Lock page, tap on the time frame after which your iPhone you want to get locked like 30-seconds, 1 minute, etc.
Step 5: After changing this setting, this issue will get resolved.
Fix 2 – Check the Attention Aware settings
This method applies to those iPhone users who have iPhone X or above since the Attention Aware feature is not available on older models. The Attention Aware feature lets the iPhone awake when it detects your face or eyes near it and considers it as an activity. So this might be the reason why your iPhone does not get locked even after a long time of not using it.
Follow the steps below on how to disable the Attention Aware feature.
Step 1: After unlocking your iPhone, go to the Settings page.
Step 2: Tap on the Accessibility option once.
Step 3: Then choose the Face ID & Attention option by tapping on it.
Step 4: Next, disable the Attention-Aware Features by turning off its switch as shown in the below screenshot.
