Fix The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken

Working on a broadband connection has its own benefits, like faster connection, lesser downtime, etc. But, it has its own downsides as well. Many times you may encounter sudden errors causing disruption while you are working.

Users report a common error with their broadband connection, where your internet connection is disconnected all of a sudden and you are unable to connect anymore. When you run the troubleshooter, you get an error message saying “Your broadband modem is experiencing connectivity issues“. On clicking next, it tries to resolve the issue, but it is finally unable to fix it and shows “The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken” under Problems found.

Fortunately, there is a fix for this that can help you continue with your work. Let’s see how.

Solution: Using Command Prompt

Step 1: Click on the Start button on your desktop and type Command Prompt in the search box. Right-click on the result and select Run as administrator to open the Command Prompt in Admin mode.

Click Windows Icon, Type Command Prompt, Right Click And Click On Run As Administrator

Step 2: In The Command Prompt window, run the below commands one by one :

 ipconfig /release
 ipconfig /all
 ipconfig /flushdns
 ipconfig /renew
 netsh int ip set dns
 netsh winsock reset

Command Prompt Run Command Netsh Winsock Reset Enter

Now, check back and your Broadband internet should be connected.

  5. I frequently get this message, but more frequently the messages that ‘wi-fi’ doesn’t have a valid IP configuration; that a cable is loose or broken; and more. The problem is generally fixed by running Windows diagnostics or more recently, sometimes spontaneously before I get a chance to run Windows diagnostics. In the meantime, all the other devices connected to the Internet, like my Sonos system, cell phone, or tab remain connected to the Internet. One solution offered by various tech persons is to is to connect with an ethernet cable, but that negates the whole point of having wi-fi. My Internet provider will happily provide me with Eero mesh, at a cost of course. My house is not large, and the distance between router and computer is about 5 metres. My TV is at least twice the distance from the router and seldom has connectivity problems. Could this be a modem/router compatibility problem with WIN 10? The modem is a Hitron CGN3AMR.
