When there is no internet connection available for your laptop or other devices, you are bound to use your personal hotspot feature on your iPhone for the internet. Isn’t it?
Several iPhone users have reported that the personal hotspot is not working on their iPhones lately and do not know why this issue occurred on their iPhones. After researching this issue, we have found some factors that might be responsible for this problem and they can be due to minor internal technical faults, personal hotspot settings not being enabled, outdated iPhone OS, the device being far from the coverage area, etc.

Preliminary Fixes
- Try restarting your iPhone once to eliminate all the possibilities of having technical glitches within the iPhone.
- Also, update your iPhone so that the iOS on your iPhone is in its latest version.
- In order for the personal hotspot to work efficiently, you need to ensure that your device should be in the coverage area of the iPhone having a personal hotspot.
Fix 1 – Enable the Personal Hotspot feature on the iPhone
Most of the time, users might not enable it correctly and got disabled for some obvious reasons and they can be unaware of it. So try enabling the personal hotspot settings on your iPhone using the steps mentioned below.
Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone first of all.
Step 2: Then you have to select the Personal Hotspot option from the Settings menu as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 3: Next, tap on the Allow Others to Join option by tapping on its toggle switch.
Step 4: After doing this, you also have to make sure the Maximise Compatibility option by clicking on the toggle button as shown below.
Fix 2 – Turn Off the Mobile Data option and Turn Off
If you suspect the issue might have been caused due to mobile data network on your iPhone, you can refresh it to fix it and this can be done easily by following the below steps.
Step 1: For this, you need to open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Then scroll down and select the Mobile Data option from the Settings page as shown below.
Step 3: Now once the Mobile Data page appears, tap on the Mobile Data option’s toggle button to disable it as shown.
Step 4: After it gets disabled, please wait for some time like a minute, and then enable it back by tapping on its toggle button.
Step 5: Once the mobile data is enabled, check whether the personal hotspot is working now or not.
Fix 3 – Check the Carrier Settings
Sometimes, these kinds of issues occur on any iPhone due to not updating the carrier settings on the iPhone. So we are going to show you how to update the carrier settings on your iPhone.
Step 1: To do this, you have to launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Then scroll down and choose the General option by clicking on it as shown below.
Step 3: After that, select the About option by clicking on it on the General page.
Step 4: Scroll down to the Physical Sim section.
Step 5: If there appears a pop-up on your iPhone screen asking you to update the carrier settings, please update it.
Step 6: Otherwise, there is no need to do anything, the carrier updates are at their latest version.
Fix 4 – Reset Network Settings
When none of the methods are working for you, then probably this issue must have been caused because of changes done to the network settings. To resolve this issue, you have to reset the network settings on the iPhone using the steps below.
NOTE – You probably have to re-sign into all the networks like Wi-Fi, VPN, etc.
Step 1: Open the Settings page first.
Step 2: Tap on the General option on the settings page as shown below.
Step 3: Now choose the Transfer or Reset iPhone option at the bottom of the General page as shown below.
Step 4: Next you got to select the Reset option by clicking on it at the bottom.
Step 5: There pops up a context menu on the iPhone screen.
Step 6: You have to tap on the Reset Network Settings from the list as shown in the image below.
Step 7: It might ask you to enter your iPhone passcode on the screen for verification purposes.
Step 8: After that, tap on the Reset Network Settings once again on the confirmation window as shown.
This starts to reset the network settings on your iPhone and once done, check whether the problem still persists.
