How to Add Hyperlinks to Texts and Images in Gmail

It doesn’t matter how many instant messaging applications come and go, mailing always gives a whole different feel. And mailing is indeed synonymous with Gmail. Don’t even mention the professional front, you cannot avoid Gmail, you just can’t! Since Gmail is so frequently used, for anything and everything, it is important that you know how you can make your experience with Gmail the most smooth and the most efficient.

It’s highly likely that you need to add a lot of web links to your email body and it definitely would look clumsy if you have so many links inside. But linking is indeed necessary, even though long links are sure going to make your mail look ugly. So is there a way out? How about hyperlinking? How about you hide your link within a text or in an image? Sounds cool? Oh yes, Gmail very well supports this feature and we are going to tell you how you can make the best use of it.

Read on, to learn how you can easily add hyperlinks to your texts and images in your Gmail body, with the simplest of the steps possible. Hope you enjoy!

Section 1: How to Add Hyperlinks to Texts

Step 1: Launch Gmail from any browser as per your preference. Once you have logged in, click on the Compose button at the top.

Step 2: Now type in the text to which you want to add the hyperlink to.

Click and select the text and then click on the Insert link button at the bottom, as shown in the screenshot below.

For example, I have selected the text The Geek Page and I’m going to hyperlink it.

Step 3: In the Edit Link window, under the Link to section, choose the radio button corresponding to the Web address option. Then on the right side, under the To what URL should this link go? textbox, either copy and paste or type in the hyperlink that you want your selected text in the previous step to point to.

Once done, hit the OK button.

Step 4: That’s it. If you now go back to the compose window, you can see that the hyperlink has been successfully added to your selected text.

In the example below, if you click on the text The Geek Page, it will take you to the link https://thegeekpage.com/.

Section 2: How to Add Hyperlinks to Images

Step 1: To add a hyperlink to an image on Gmail, firstly you need to insert the image into the mail. For that, you can drag and drop the image to the mail body.

If you find it difficult to insert the image using drag and drop method, you can follow the Insert photo method detailed in Steps 2 and 3. Else if you could successfully insert the image using the drag and drop method, then you can jump to Step 4.

Step 2: To insert an image using the Insert photo method, click on the Insert photo button at the bottom part of the compose window as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 3: In the Insert Photo window, click on the Upload tab first, then click on the Choose photos to upload button, then choose the photo that you want to insert by browsing through your computer and finally click on the Inline button.

Step 4: You should now have your image inserted successfully onto your mail body.

Select the image just like how you would select a text. Once the image is selected, click on the Insert link button at the bottom. Alternatively, you can press the keys CTRL + K together to do the same.

Step 5: Now, click on the image one more time and then click on the link named Change, associated with it, to add your hyperlink.

Step 6: In the Edit Link window, click on the radio button corresponding to the Web address option and then on the right side, copy & paste or type in your hyperlink.

Click on the OK button.

Step 7: That’s it, if you now click on your image, you can see that your hyperlink has been successfully inserted. Enjoy!
