For many different reasons, we record voice or audio on our iPhones but since it consumes a lot of space on the iPhone, users happen to delete those voice memos which are not necessary any longer.
Recently many iPhone users have reported an issue that the deleted voice memos reappear on their iPhones and consume the iPhone storage which is causing a serious space issue on their iPhones. No matter how many times they have deleted them.
This issue is probably happening because the voice memos recorded on the iPhones are getting stored on iCloud if the setting is enabled on the iPhone. So one of the solutions can be by disabling the voice memos iCloud setting can resolve this issue.

Fix 1 – Disable iCloud for Voice Memos on your iPhone
Some users enable iCloud for voice memos which stores all the voice memos recorded on the iPhone in iCloud. When the user deletes any of the voice memos from the app, it downloads the voice memos from iCloud through syncing. Therefore, disabling it would fix this issue.
Follow the steps on how to disable it.
Step 1: First of all, you need to open the Apple ID page on your iPhone.
Step 2: To do so, open the Settings page on your iPhone first.
Step 3: Then tap on the profile name on top of the Settings page as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 4: Once the Apple ID page opens, click on the iCloud option.
Step 5: Now tap on the Show All option to explore more options as shown below.
Step 6: Scroll down the Apps using the iCloud list and find Voice Memos from the list.
Step 7: Disable it by tapping on its toggle switch as shown below.
Fix 2 – Clear the Recently Deleted items from the Voice Memos app
When any user deletes any voice memos from their iPhone, it gets stored on the iPhone for the next 30 days so that they can recover them when they need them back. This consumes the iPhone storage even after you have deleted them since it remains in the Recently Deleted folder on the Voice Memos app.
Let us see how to clear the recently deleted items from the Voice Memos app using the steps below.
Step 1: Unlock your iPhone first and find the Voice Memos app from the home screen.
Step 2: Now tap on the Voice Memos app icon to open the app.
Step 3: Once the Voice Memos app opens, locate and tap on the Recently Deleted option as shown in the below image.
Step 4: Click the Edit option on the top right corner of the app window as shown.
Step 5: After that, now you have to tap on the Delete All option at the bottom right side.
Step 6: Then a pop up appears on the bottom of the screen.
Step 7: Simply tap on the Delete Forever option from the confirm pop up window.
This deletes all the voice memos deleted from the last 30 days.
If you want the deleted items to get cleared immediately or within a few days, you can change the voice memos settings as shown in the below method.
Fix 3 – Modify the Voice Memos app settings
There is a setting on the iPhone where you can select how frequently the recently deleted items must be cleared from the iPhone for Voice Memos. You can change it as per your convenience so that the iPhone storage gets cleared easily.
Here are the steps given below on how to change the voice memos app settings.
Step 1: After unlocking your iPhone, go to the Settings page by clicking on the settings icon.
Step 2: Now you have to scroll down the settings page and click on the Voice Memos option as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 3: On the Voice Memos page, tap on the Clear Deleted option under the Voice Memos Settings section at the bottom as shown.
Step 4: You might see the option After 30 Days must have been selected.
Step 5: Please change it to After 1 Day or Immediately from the list so that deleted items will get cleared within 1 day.
Fix 4 – Reset All Settings
Some iPhone users change the settings on the iPhones after they have updated their iPhones and this leads to many issues as discussed in the article above. So we recommend our users try performing a reset all settings on their iPhones can resolve this problem as explained in the below steps.
Step 1: Go to the Settings page on your iPhone.
Step 2: Now choose the General option by tapping on it once as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 3: At the bottom of the General page, tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone.
Step 4: Tap on the Reset option as shown below.
Step 5: Select the Reset All Settings option from the list by tapping on it once as shown.
Step 6: To continue further, please enter your passcode when prompted on the screen.
Step 7: Please tap on Reset All Settings on the pop-up window to continue.
Step 8: This will reset all your iPhone settings without losing any personal data.
Additional Fix
Restart your iPhone
It has been found that there are many applications or features available on the iPhone that behaves weirdly and the user has no idea as to what is causing this to happen. Even though the user has updated their iPhones, these issues can occur due to internal technical glitches which can be fixed by restarting your iPhone. So try restarting your iPhone and check if the voice memos storage issue is resolved on your iPhone.
